One Victoria started construction on August 2013 and was completed in July 2016. It is a 19-storey residential high rise in the heart of Kitchener featuring 202 suites, 2 floors of underground parking, 6 floors of interior above grade parking, and commercial retail units on the ground floor facing King Street. It has a total floor area of 25,923m2 with 180 parking stalls.
It is constructed of cast-in-place concrete for all 19 storeys with a transfer slab on the 6th floor. The exterior of the building is pre-cast concrete panels. The interior of building has block walls throughout the parking garage area and light gauge steel stud walls in the suites and corridors.
One Victoria It is residential high rise by Momentum Developments and was built by Melloul-Blamey Construction Inc. I was on the job from the beginning to the completion of the 6th floor. I started the job as an Assist Construction Supervisor. This role included the responsibilities of overseeing layout, quality control, scheduling, job sequencing and job site safety. This role also included making engineering judgements on-site, working with engineers, architects and building inspectors. Through-out the job there was extended periods of time when I took over the role of Senior Construction Superintend. In October 2014, the building structure and exterior pre-cast panels were complete through the complex underground and to 6th floor podium. As the less complex tower structure started on the 7th and went to the 19th floor, I left the job.
