Curtainsider Inc, Paris
Curtainsider Inc’s new building project started in January 2018 and was completed in January 2019. KAMP Construction worked with the owner directly as a design/build consultant. Curtainsider was working out of a 15,000ft² building in Brantford and was looking to expand their building and have more parking space. KAMP Construction did the initial design work and then worked with Antech Design & Engineering Group to complete a full set of drawings. The new building boosts 57,300ft² of building area, 110,000ft² of storage and parking area on a 5-acre site. It has 45,100ft² of shop space which includes welding areas, 8 trailer repair bays, 2 trailer wash down bays, a separate room for small hydraulic and electrical work, a separate room to manufacture curtains and a 2ndfloor area to sow and brand the curtains. It also includes 2 loading dock with concrete retaining walls. The west end of the building has 6,100ft² of finished office space which includes a waiting/display area, 9 separate offices, a board room, lunchroom, and washrooms. The 2ndfloor above the office area was design for future office use.
This building is constructed of Pre-Eng. steel building for the shop area with overhead cranes on runway beams directly fastened to the structure. The west office portion of the project was built of conventional steel structure with drywall partitions and with both exposed ceilings and T-bar ceilings. Masonry block was used throughout for fire separations and durability. The 2ndfloor was constructed of hollow-core pre-cast concrete slabs sitting on both steel and masonry block. The facade of the building is mostly steel cladding, but it also has a blend of Split-Face block, Aluminum Composite panels and Cobble stone.
KAMP Construction was the design/build consultant as well as the construction management team for the complete project.
